This wild, wild year has come to a close.
We’re moving into 2025 with a beautiful momentum and big spirit in our hearts. This year, we set our sights high — from the volcanic valleys of Jalisco to the sun-soaked hills of Oaxaca — as we spent our energy digging deeper into our understanding of the almighty agave.
All our journeys this year would not have been possible without you, our extended family. Your curiosity, enthusiasm, and shared passion for craftsmanship and sustainability invigorate our journey every step of the way.
2024: The Feelings that Stood out the Most
Following our Passion
When we look back on each year, we feel gratitude—that we get to follow our passion for agave, that it’s led us such places, and we share it with so many people dear to us. This year, we launched The Lost Explorer Tequila, a labor of love crafted in partnership with Maestro Tequilero Enrique de Colsa. It’s been an honor to see our Blanco Tequila — in its very first year, no less — crowned with Best-of-Class & Double Gold in the Latin America World Spirits Competition, and equally exciting to see it rated 5 stars by the prestigious Difford’s Guide.
Meanwhile, our Tobalá Mezcal also earned top honors in the Latin America World Spirits Competition — Best-of-Class & Double Gold. These recognitions are exciting to receive of course, but what it means to us really is that our instinct has led us down the right paths. Partnering with the brilliant minds of Maestro Tequilero Enrique de Colsa & Maestro Mezcalero Fortino Ramos, prioritizing environmentally and socially conscious production, and following passion with purity.
Treading Lightly
With this great gift and responsibility of producing artisanal mezcal and traditional tequila, we know Nature lies at the heart of everything we do. And it’s our responsibility to protect it.
This year, we installed 26 solar panels — expanding upon the existing 6 — at our palenque in Oaxaca, amping up the renewable energy we’re using in our mezcal production process. As we’ve explored new types of mezcal to create (having introduced our limited edition Madre Cuishe!), we’ve maintained our commitment to planting 3 agaves per each one harvested. To learn more about our sustainability work happening on the palenque & at our Tequila distillery in Jalisco, read more here.
Through our Voice For Nature partnership, we also worked with Isla Urbana to bring rainwater harvesting systems to marginalized communities in Oaxaca, providing with expanded access to clean, sustainable water — a lifeline in areas affected by scarcity. We’re now working with the incredible team there to expand projects into Jalisco communities for 2025.
With our ongoing partnership with SiKanda, this year we’ve provided more seed funding for women-run businesses in Oaxaca alongside hosting workshops for entrepreneurial training.
Sustainability isn’t a single milestone — it’s a promise we keep with every step forward, every agave planted, every bottle produced, and every person we connect with in our surrounding communities.
Community Love
From our mezcal palenque and tequila distillery to across the globe — each and every bartender, fan, and curious spirit we encountered this year — we’re ending the year with this buzzing sense of global community. We are so happy to celebrate & build together, sharing our love of agave and craftsmanship with you.
Tinkering, Experimenting, Honing Expertise
In addition to the exciting launch of tequila, Maestro Mezcalero Fortino Ramos ventured into new agave territory with our partnership with Belmond Maroma hotel, creating an exclusive run of Tobasiche Mezcal for their guests. And long in the works, we finally launched our Reserva del Maestro series of limited edition mezcals: One new mezcal each year that Maestro Fortino has spent time exploring, deeply understanding a new agave to unleash new flavors. This year, we begin with Madre Cuishe.
We’re ever grateful to be on this precious journey in agave together, with you. Rest up. Sip Curiously. And see you in the fresh year.
With spirit,
The Lost Explorer
